It used to include a text editor descended from LPEX.

For java programming, this is probably the most popular editor. As with other IDEs (such as JBuilder?, Forte?, and NetBeans), you have to get your java 'project' to compile within the environment, to make proper use of it. If you're struggling with this, stick with it! It's worth it in the end, and going through the painful process will help you learn the way java works.
