Edile is a basic but useful text editor for Linux, implemented in a single source code file and requiring no installation beyond that. It's meant for system administration and scripting uses. It can open text from a pipe, load (and authenticate) a menu of functions over the internet, and do several other interesting things. It requires Python, PyGTK? and if you have PyGtkSourceView? installed it will use that for syntax highlighting, line numbering and other developer-oriented features.
