User interface is handled by a curses library such as ncurses or pdcurses. Works on POSIX systems. It's been ported to and tested on Windows and would probably port to MSDOS as well. If using PDCurses, one can also use a SDL or SDL2 back-end. Easy to use. Boyer-Moore string and byte searches. Undo feature.
