There are two ZED and Zed editors.

This one is from England. It is a commercial product. It runs on a couple of Unix flavors as well as MSDOS 2.0 (sic).
C source is provided as part of the purchase, so you can customize and/or port the editor to other systems.
The default command set is based on WordStar. ZED was apparently distributed with Zortech C.
Zortech C begat Symantec C which is related (by authorship) to Digital Mars C/C++ (WalterBright?).
