* You may find that your needs have changed since when you first started learning about text editors
* Having a hammer doesn't mean everything is a nail.

So, for example, you might already know MS-DOS EDIT and you want something similar on Linux so you try SetEdit.

This way of PickingATextEditor involves using the tool that you learned the first time you started to seriously program.

This might also be termed FirstComeFirstServed?. Basically, you make a choice not to learn something new because you already have an adequate solution.
