This is the ability to narrow the view of the buffer to include only those lines that are tagged as viewable.

The IbmEditorFamily often has this capability.

The ALL command for XEDIT allows you to search for a string and show all occurances of lines with that string match. While in this mode, you can perform commands to further narrow the search. Finally, you can perform global commands on the viewable lines and only those lines will be affected.

Typing ALL one more time with no search string cancels the previous command and lets you see all lines again.
